A curious designer and playful illustrator, I use the synergy of research, storytelling, and humor to create thoughtful and delightful visual stories. My experience teaching college-level English added to my training in design, empowers me to cross-pollinate words and images, making ideas blossom.
I capitalized on the year-long series of Special Topics classes offered in the SCCA program to refine my skills and expand the range of my illustration style. My skill-building program for each quarter had a specific goal (illustration by theme, style, and profession) to make the outcomes cohesive.
King Donuts, known as “King Donuts Teriyaki Laundromat” since 2003, was famous for its odd mix of offerings. In 2018, new owners added Thai food to the menu and closed the laundromat. The rebrand is about retaining loyal customers, while redefining the brand to align with these significant changes.
StoryGarden is a women’s magazine that narrates; it does not berate. It puts a human face on the self-help articles and how-to listicles found in women’s magazines. Every woman has stories about her life. StoryGarden presents these intimate stories that women tell each other over a cup of tea.
